1 Thessalonians 2:19-20
19 For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? 20 Indeed, you are our glory and joy.
At the end of the day there is possibly only one question that God might ask us that really matters. “What did you do with my Son and His claims on your life?” Actually, He began asking it from the day we said ‘yes’ to His offer of love and our acceptance of the Life He freely gave us.
He might also add, to lovingly stress the point, “I found you lost and purposeless, I wooed you and drew you and called you to myself and spoke words of unconditional love and acceptance to you, heard your cry, forgave your sins, poured Myself into you, began changing you from the inside-out. I gave you a new heart and gifts and abilities to share with the broken world around you to help put them back together again….and……..so?”
As a parent, leader, manager or member of a church, the ultimate joy and the most glorious celebration will be about how others, solely by God’s grace and our cooperation and partnership with Him, were touched and transformed or reached with the love of God. Promotion, profit, market share or career triumphs cannot compare to knowing that we helped others know and experience Him through our words and our lives.
PRAYER ACTION
Lord, I am not in this for the accolades, the crown, or the glory…and you know my believing in you isn’t just ‘fire insurance’ - to save me from Hell. But I really do want to dance before you someday and celebrate the wonderful, amazing truth that I honored you with my life and that you and I worked together to reach others for you.
