1 Thessalonians 3:1-5b
5 For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter had tempted you and that our labors might have been in vain.
Following yesterday’s devotional thought … but … secretly in our hearts we know that unless we accept and obey the call, get off our backsides and take action (in His name of course), and humbly use whatever gifts and abilities He has given us … the mission won’t move forward. Amazingly, He chooses to work through us.
He needs our feet, hands, mouths and hearts. It’s just the way it works, and while we know that we should pray and not worry, and leave it to Him, we still do (worry).
We do because we know our humanness and probably doubt our ability to be spiritual enough to trust Him completely! And to be honest, perhaps our people at work, and those we care for and lead, need to see a little more of the man-woman-Christian who knows how to care so much that they get anxious, fret, fear and stress out … but who also takes the time to be there for them! People, our people, need real, authentic, human managers and leaders.
PRAYER ACTION
Lord, help me to give up and stop trying to be, or do, or accomplish things without you! Pick me up, strengthen me, empower me, embolden me to not give up, to never quit, to ‘keep on keeping on’ for the good of others – but in your strength and power alone. I’m available, but I’m so prone to doing this life in my own power. Show me what I need to do, today, to let you do your thing, however small, through me.
“Knowing is better than wondering, waking is better than sleeping, and even your biggest failure beats the hell out of never trying.”
